Where you start

Pambula River track carpark

Reached via Pambula Beach Road (about 4 km). Northern section. Free vehicle entry.

How to get there

  1. From Pambula / Pambula Beach follow Pambula Beach Road about 4 km to the signed track start. Free vehicle entry.
  2. This is not Haycock Road. Do not hunt for the river track after The Pinnacles without going back to Pambula Beach Road.
  3. Do not enter the fenced suspected-asbestos closure north of Pambula Beach Road, west of the Baptist Church. Official applies through 31 August 2026 — [VERIFY] still posted.
  4. Park only in signed bays. After rain, treat unsealed edges as sloppy.

How to do it (step by step)

  1. Walk the signed return to the lookout over Severs Beach. Official 1 km return, Grade 4, 20–40 minutes.
  2. Grade 4 on a short walk still means rough or steep bits — shoes, not thongs. Stay on the formed path past midden country.
  3. Severs Beach is on the night-shooting list after 6pm through 6am Friday 25 September 2026. Finish in daylight. [VERIFY].
  4. Do not treat the river mouth as a pool. Unpatrolled water, rips, changing depth.

What to expect

Official: 1 km return, Grade 4, 20–40 minutes. A short riverbank walk with a lookout over Severs Beach in the free-entry northern section.

The grade number is the honest part. Short does not mean easy underfoot. You are here for river, birds and a look — not a wilderness circuit.

Cultural sites

Middens sit along the Pambula River. This is Yuin Country. Stay on the formed path. Do not poke, collect, climb or “just step off for a photo.”

Asbestos and night shooting

Do not enter the fenced suspected-asbestos closure north of Pambula Beach Road, west of the Baptist Church. Official applies through Monday 31 August 2026, 4.55pm — [VERIFY] still posted.

Severs Beach is on the official night-shooting list after 6pm through 6am Friday 25 September 2026. Finish this walk in daylight while that snapshot is current.

What this walk is not

It is not The Pinnacles. It is not a Green Cape shortcut. It is not a swim. It is a short northern add-on when you already know which road you are on.

Kit searches (water, sun, dry bags, PLB) live on the gear page— Amazon merch stays there, not on this walk page.

Extra tips

  • Respectful look only at midden country. Never poke, collect or climb.
  • This does not replace The Pinnacles as the northern hero photo, and it does not connect to Green Cape.
  • Birdwatching is a better reason to linger than a swim.
  • Pair with The Pinnacles only if you have already budgeted the extra road time — two starts, two carparks.

Often paired with The Pinnacles— only if energy and weather allow.
