Park overview
Guide updated
Beowa National Park is about 47 km of rocky Far South Coast and about 10,486 ha, split into two disconnected sections by Twofold Bay. Most visitors should pick one section rather than trying to see both. This hub is how you choose, then open a deeper area guide.

Recommended order: pick one section → check alerts → pay the correct vehicle fee (north free / south $8) → do one walk → stop in town if you still have time. The Pinnacles and Boyds Tower are a long drive apart — not a same-afternoon pair.
How to choose an area
First visit from Eden: Boyds Tower — Grade 1 accessible boardwalk.
First visit from Merimbula / Pambula: The Pinnacles — free entry, 1.1 km Grade 3 loop.
Official vehicle camp: Saltwater Creek or Bittangabee (Green Cape). Bring water at Saltwater. Road can be boggy at Bittangabee.
Multi-day: Light to Light only with booked platforms.
A simple order: pick one section → check alerts → pay correctly → do one walk → stop in town if you still have time.
Geography in plain English
Think of the park as two road systems, not one loop. Northern Pambula-Haycock (Merimbula / Pambula → Haycock Road and Pambula Beach Road) and southern Green Cape (Eden → Edrom → Boyds Tower or Green Cape Road). Towns are where you eat, sleep and reset. There is no ferry and no park road across Twofold Bay.
After extreme rain, allow extra time on unsealed roads and treat them as possibly closed. Main visitor areas are 2WD gravel. Mowarry and North Head are 4WD only.
What not to combine
- Boyds Tower plus The Pinnacles “because they’re both Beowa.” Different sections; hours of driving.
- A Light to Light day plus the Green Cape 7 km loop as a cool-down.
- Starting the 32 km walk without booked platforms and a finish-car plan.
- Climbing The Pinnacles formations or standing beyond Boyds Tower barriers.

Pambula-Haycock
Best for: First-timers from Merimbula / Pambula, families, The Pinnacles, river and beach days without Green Cape fees
The northern section, between Merimbula and Eden: Pambula River, shell middens, secluded beaches, Haycock Point and The Pinnacles. Free vehicle entry. Not connected by park road to Green Cape.

Green Cape
Best for: Light to Light, Boyds Tower, whales, Green Cape lookout, official camping
The southern section past Eden: Boyds Tower, Light to Light Walk, Saltwater Creek and Bittangabee campgrounds, Green Cape Lightstation and whale lookouts. $8 per vehicle per day. Not connected by park road to Pambula-Haycock.
