Official track: 0.8 km return, Grade 1, 30 minutes–1 hour. Accessible parking and boardwalk. Supervising adults still own cliff behaviour. Success is everyone back at the car still speaking — not a hero walk.

South of Eden: $8 per vehicle per day [VERIFY]. Not camping. Pedestrians and cyclists free. Official Light to Light page: Boyds Tower is about a 45-minute drive south of Eden. Build a buffer for gravel and wildlife.

Park beaches are unpatrolled. This day is a lookout day, not a swim day, unless you later choose a flagged beach outside the park (Beachsafe). There is no kiosk at the tower.

Always check Beowa local alerts the morning you leave. This itinerary is planning guidance only — not live track status.

Timeline

  1. Night before

    Alerts, snacks, one rule

    Check official alerts on home Wi-Fi. Pack water, hats, a layer, and a snack that does not depend on a kiosk (there isn’t one at the tower). Agree out loud: boardwalk only. No Light to Light “just a bit.” No Pinnacles on the way home.

  2. Leave Eden

    One drive, no extra stops

    Eden → Edrom → Boyds Tower Road (2WD gravel). Official planning figure is about 45 minutes south of Eden — allow more after rain or with a slow car. Fuel and toilets in town first.

  3. Arrive

    Pay, toilets, layers

    Signed carpark. Pay machine for the $8 Green Cape vehicle day entry (or show a pass). Use accessible bays if you need them. Do not block the turning circle. Toilets at the carpark. Wind layer on before the boardwalk.

  4. Boardwalk

    Tower at kid pace

    Follow the accessible boardwalk to the 1847 sandstone tower and lookouts. Official time 30 minutes–1 hour. Stay behind barriers. Red cliffs beside the boardwalk are not a scramble. Whales in season are a sit, not a cliff-edge lens.

  5. Picnic

    Eat at the carpark, then leave

    Picnic at the car. Then back to Eden or Boydtown for lunch or ice cream. That is a complete day. Wildlife on Edrom Road after dusk — leave in daylight.

  6. Do not

    Add a second park

    Green Cape loop is Grade 4 rock. Light to Light continues south from the same carpark — it is a booked multi-day. The Pinnacles are the other section. Ice cream in Eden counts as the second activity.

Decision gates (say them out loud)

  • If a child is done at the first lookout: sit, then leave — the tower still counts
  • If wind is nasty: shorter stop, more layers, no cliff-edge photos
  • If someone wants “just the start of Light to Light”: no, unless platforms and a finish car are already booked
  • If parking is messy: wait for a signed bay — do not invent cliff-edge parking
