Never merge the fee systems. SOUTH of Eden (Green Cape): $8 per vehicle per day. NORTH of Eden
(Pambula-Haycock): free vehicle entry. Pedestrians and cyclists are free. Camping is a separate official

1. Before you leave home

Packing (day pack)
- Water 2 L+ per person (day walks)
- ≥5 L capacity if walking Light to Light

- Sun hat + SPF + wind layer
- Grip shoes for rock platforms
- Guy ropes if camping on L2L platforms
- Phone + power bank + first aid
- Your own firewood if fires are permitted — no gathering
2. Pick one section (they are not connected)
Pambula-Haycock (north of Eden)
From Pambula ~9 km south on the Princes Hwy, left Haycock Road (2WD gravel). River track via Pambula Beach Road (~4 km).
- Free vehicle entry
- The Pinnacles 1.1 km Grade 3 · Pambula River 1 km Grade 4 · Haycock–Barmouth 3 km one-way Grade 3
- No park road to Boyds Tower — return to the highway
Green Cape (south of Eden)
Visitor-info: ~16 km south of Eden, left Edrom Road, then Green Cape Road (~8 km) or Boyds Tower Road. Official pages disagree on kilometres — follow signs.

- Main roads 2WD gravel. Mowarry / North Head 4WD only
3. Day-shape decision tree
First visit / one solid day from Eden
Boyds Tower only (Grade 1, accessible). Do not start Light to Light after lunch.
First visit from Merimbula / Pambula
The Pinnacles loop. Optional Haycock picnic. Do not add Boyds Tower the same morning.
Whale season (peak southward Sep–early Dec)
Boyds Tower then Green Cape lookout in the same paid section. North is a second morning.
Family / low energy
Boyds Tower boardwalk only. Unpatrolled park beaches — use Beachsafe for flagged town beaches.
Light to Light 2–3 days
Only if Mowarry + Hegartys platforms and a car shuffle / transfer are booked. Treat water. Carry ≥5 L.
If two plans both look appealing
Pick the shorter one. You can always do less once you arrive.
4. Fee systems (keep separate)
- A. Vehicle day entry — $8 south of Eden only. North of Eden is free. Pedestrians and cyclists free. Annual pass ≠ camping. [VERIFY] live dollars and machines.
- B. Camping — official NPWS booking only, extra nightly fee. Check-in 2pm / out 10am at vehicle camps. Park entry is not included.
- C. Walk permits — no general walk permit. Light to Light platforms must be booked. Trip intention recommended. Free PLB hire at Merimbula. NSW fishing licence is statewide.
5. Light to Light (32 km · Grade 4 · 2–3 days)
Official product is Boyds Tower → Green Cape. From $115 for 2 nights per campsite [VERIFY] on the official
Light to Light camping page. Ten hardwood platforms each at Mowarry and Hegartys (5.4×3.6 m, guy ropes). Separate
Mowarry campground page also lists 4 gravel walk-in pads (4WD to the carpark, ~600 m walk). Hegartys has no
standalone campground page — book via Light to Light / RezExpert.
- Day 1: Boyds Tower → Mowarry 9 km, 2–3 hrs · Day 2: Mowarry → Hegartys 10 km, 2.5–3.5 hrs · Day 3: Hegartys → Green Cape 13 km, 3.5–4.5 hrs.
- Official day splits: Boyds–Saltwater Creek 13.2 km Grade 4 · Saltwater–Bittangabee 9 km Grade 3 · Bittangabee–Green Cape 7 km Grade 4.
- Creek wades (Saltwater, Woodburn, Bittangabee) are tide / swell / flood. Inland alternative Bittangabee–Green Cape in rough seas — official walk page.
- Treat all tank water. Carry ≥5 L. Saltwater Creek and Bittangabee tanks are more reliable — still treat them.
- Car shuffle or commercial transfer (Navigate Expeditions publishes one — not affiliated). Overnight cars at remote parks are a theft risk (NPWS).
- Print the official Light to Light map PDF. Check the Green Cape tide chart before rock-platform days.
6. Vehicle camps (snapshot — not a site-count table)
- Saltwater Creek: marked unpowered sites. Official booking page (16 Aug 2026): up to 9 sites / 40 people online. Treat tank water and still bring water. No coverage at the campground. Max stay 2 weeks.
- Bittangabee: marked unpowered sites, motorhome-capable. Official booking page: up to 9 sites / 40 people online. Road can be boggy. No coverage at the campground.
- Green Cape Keepers’ Cottages and Telegraph Station closed until at least 31 Dec 2026. Lookout, carpark and walks stay open.
7. Communications
- Official: limited mobile reception throughout the park. Triple Zero (000) needs a signal.
- Download Emergency+ before you leave town. We do not publish carrier maps.
- Saltwater Creek campground: no coverage at the site (intermittent on the access road).
- Trip intention form recommended for Light to Light. Free PLB hire at Merimbula NPWS.
- Merimbula office: 47 Merimbula Drive, (02) 6495 5000, 10am–3pm weekdays and some peak weekends. Contact centre 1300 072 757, 7am–7pm daily (closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).
8. Alerts snapshot (20 Aug 2026 — not live)
- Night shooting underway through 6am Friday 25 September 2026: Haycock Point picnic, Haycock–Barmouth walking track, Severs Beach, Pinnacles loop, Quondola Point, Terrace Beach / Lennards Island. Open 6am–6pm. Not every night — confirm a specific night with Merimbula office. Finish northern walks in daylight.
- Suspected asbestos: closed area north of Pambula Beach Road, west of the Baptist Church. Official applies through Monday 31 August 2026, 4.55pm. Stay out of fenced ground.
- Green Cape cottages / Telegraph Station closed until at least 31 Dec 2026. Lookout and walks open.
- 1080 baiting 1 Jul–31 Dec 2026. Pets are not permitted (certified assistance animals excepted).
9. Safety non-negotiables
- Park beaches are unpatrolled. Strong rips. Use Beachsafe for flagged town beaches.
- Rock platforms are slippery. Skip Green Cape loop in strong wind or storm surge.
- Stay off The Pinnacles formations and cliff edges. Supervise children.
- No firewood gathering. Total fire bans mean what they say.
- No snow. No crocodiles. Heat, fire, surge and no phone are the real hazards.
- Emergency: call 000. This PDF cannot help with rescue.
